Michael Gibson, Associate
Michael maintains a diverse, practice primarily focusing on condominium and real estate law, commercial law, and general litigation. Michael also teaches condominium law at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Law, and has experience assisting condominium boards, property managers, and owners with the unique challenges they face in the operation and management of their building.
Michael joined Sharek Logan & van Leenen LLP as an Associate in June 2015, after the completion of his articles with the firm. He obtained an LLM in Competition and Innovation from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland, after completing an LLB from the same institution. Michael also holds a BA in Economics from the University of Alberta.
During his Master's studies, his research focused on the competition and intellectual property issues faced by firms in innovative industries, such as technology/computers and software, and pharmaceuticals. These unique challenges can make it particularly difficult for government regulators and fellow market actors to understand how such markets operate. Michael's education and knowledge in these fields makes him uniquely adept at dealing with the emerging legal challenges presented by modern advances in technology and the internet.
